In our efforts to slow things during a season that typically requires a high level of energy around the clock, we gathered around two pots of melting wax, and took in all that beeswax provides. In a workshop led by Evelyn Neves of Noble, we learned the ins and outs of what it takes to create a handmade, properly poured, beeswax, or soy scented candle.
With some in teacups, some in mason jars, everyone learned the necessity of temperature in cooling wax, and the process of mixing scent with soy based waxes. Each person basked in the scents that hung in the air around them – sandalwood, lavender, mulled wine, and the simple sweet smell of beeswax for those who went au natural.
Each person left with their own candle, a new knowledge on how to create the same pieces at home, and a renewed sense of a skill…
